How I Learned to Choose Me: My Journey as a Cycle-Breaker.
I was born and raised on the island of Tahiti.
Abandonment used to be the central theme of my story, influencing how I loved, lived, and led my life. Whether real or imagined, it colored my relationships, decisions, and overall outlook on life.
But this narrative isn't mine alone; it's a shared experience among all my family, ancestors, and island community. Many of us have grappled with various forms of self-abandonment, often stemming from the enduring impact of colonialism, leading us to disconnect from our authenticity and overlook our own agency in shaping our lives.
At 17, I took a leap and left Tahiti with a one-way ticket, in search of my truth. Though uncertain of what that entailed, simply voicing it ignited a sense of purpose within.
That moment marked the first time I prioritized myself, a commitment I've sought to uphold ever since.
My journey to healing from the internalized impacts of my personal, family, and colonial history has been about honoring myself, whether in monumental decisions or daily choices.
Throughout a multitude of mini-mid-life crises brought about by life's challenges such as divorce, chronic burnout, career shifts, postpartum depression, and parenthood, the theme of abandonment persisted. However, each trial presented an opportunity to learn the value of self-worth and to prioritize choices that genuinely nurtured me.
Now, I'm grateful for the experiences that have shaped me and am using my past pain as fuel to help break the cycle of self-abandonment that affects far too many.
As a spiritual coach, I blend my unique flavors to support others in choosing themselves—embracing their true selves, following their passions, and living authentically—and in firmly believing in their worthiness to embody as many versions of themselves as they desire.
My mission is to wake individuals up to their dormant potential by guiding them away from societal expectations and towards their authentic selves. In authenticity, we discover infinity.
Together, we shed limiting roles, identities, mindsets, and one-size-fits-all lifestyles and courageously step into their highest reality. It's about leading a fulfilling, regenerative life deeply rooted in our essence.
It's about getting real about the parts of us and society we've outgrown, embracing who we've silently (un)become, and amplifying that authenticity.
When you're ready to choose yourself, I'm here to support you.
Matatea.
